A Mela alternative for Android, iPhone and the web
Mela is a beautiful recipe manager, and it only runs on Apple devices. If you or the person you cook with is on Android, or the recipes you save come from TikTok and Instagram rather than websites, it starts to fit less well.
BiteVault works on Android, iPhone and in any browser with the same account. Share a TikTok or Reel and the recipe is saved with ingredients and steps, and with Pro from what the creator says out loud as well as the caption. Restaurants from food videos go on your own map.
Get BiteVault on every device. Google Play, the App Store, or bitevault.app in a browser. One account, the same Vault everywhere.
Share a Vault across phones. A shared Vault works between an iPhone and an Android phone. Joining one is free; starting one is part of Pro.
Bring over the recipes you cook. There is no Mela import. Share the original videos or recipe links for your favourites and they are saved again from the source.
Everyone you cook with is on Apple. Mela shares a library over iCloud and plugs into Apple Calendar and Reminders.
You want to pay once. Mela is a one-time unlock on each platform. BiteVault Pro is a subscription or a one-off lifetime purchase.
You scan printed recipes. Mela reads them. BiteVault does not.
Mixed phones, video recipes, or restaurants are where BiteVault fits better.
Can I import my Mela recipes?
Not yet. There is no Mela import. Share the original TikToks, Reels or recipe links for the ones you want, and BiteVault saves them again from the source.
Does it work on Android?
Yes. BiteVault is on Google Play and the App Store, and works in any browser at bitevault.app with the same account.
Is it free?
Yes. The free plan holds 50 saves in your Vault with 30 new saves a month, and allergen and gluten flags are free on every plan. Your first 14 days include Pro, which listens to the video. Pro is from A$3.33 a month on the yearly plan.
