A recipe saver that checks for gluten, built by someone who cooks for a coeliac
A recipe saved from TikTok says nothing about gluten, and a caption that says "gluten free" is not the same as a recipe that is. BiteVault was built by someone whose partner has coeliac disease, so every recipe it saves is checked.
Save a recipe to BiteVault and it is checked for gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, shellfish and more, with the evidence shown. Gluten gets a four-tier rating that errs on the side of caution. Coeliac or celiac, the flags are free on every plan.
Save the recipe. Share a TikTok, Reel or recipe website to BiteVault. The check runs as part of every save.
Read the flags. Each allergen shows as a chip with the ingredient that triggered it. Gluten carries a confidence rating, and if part of the check could not run, the recipe says so rather than looking clean.
Check the label. The app is a second pair of eyes, not the last word. Confirm with the original recipe and the packaging before you cook for someone with coeliac disease.
Four tiers, not yes or no. When the evidence is uncertain, the rating leans towards contains gluten, never towards gluten free.
Soy sauce counts as gluten unless the recipe says tamari.
The ingredient wins. A "gluten-free" claim in the caption never overrides a named gluten ingredient in the recipe.
Always free. Allergen and gluten flags are on every plan. Safety is never behind a paywall.
Can I rely on it?
No app should be the last word for coeliac disease. BiteVault errs on the side of caution and shows its evidence, but AI ingredient checks can be wrong, so always confirm with the original recipe and the packaging.
Does it check restaurants?
No. The allergen check is for recipes. A saved venue carries its Google details, so ask the venue about gluten.
Does it cost anything?
Allergen and gluten flags are free on every plan. Pro adds ingredient swaps, cook mode and more, from A$3.33 a month on the yearly plan.
